Locate Material the First Tool Cannot Reach

Rest machining depends on an accurate picture of what earlier tools removed. Confirm the roughing operation, tool diameter, corner radius, allowance, boundary, stock definition, and setup revision used by the calculation. If any of those changed, regenerate the rest result rather than reusing a path that describes an obsolete stock state.

Inspect the remaining-stock display for false islands and missed regions. A model can look plausible while a different tool library diameter or an excluded boundary changes engagement. Slice the simulation at deep corners and under overhang-like transitions where a smaller tool or its holder may encounter more material than expected.

Choose the Smaller Tool by Reach as Well as Diameter

Choose the smallest cutter from required access, not from the smallest visible feature alone. Check flute length, shank clearance, holder envelope, projection, and the load created when it enters residual stock. Archive the Tool Chain and Stock State

Archive the roughing and rest operations as a linked revision set. Record tool library entries, allowances, stock model, operation order, simulation checks, and accepted sample. If the upstream roughing path changes, flag the downstream rest path for mandatory regeneration and verification.
